After a full-on COVID 2020 we decided that we needed to rebook our time at Port Douglas and Yeppoon that were originally scheduled for the 2020 winter.
So we did. Four weeks at Port Douglas and three weeks at Yeppoon - with a two week gap in between. You can read "we" as three couples in three caravans". They will be introduced soon. We all have different departure dates.
Above average rainfall (read that as "floods") in NSW and Queensland meant that there was lots of water in places that were very dry when we last saw them. Heart-breaking words like "no rain in three years" are contained in my travel blog of a few years ago.
So the Menindee Lakes became our first "must see" destination. The Darling River was a part of that feature, as it flows in one end and out the other of the lakes system. Bourke (on the Darling) was the next key stop.
The route over the first two weeks will vary according to the quality of some roads that we want to check out (read "have not been on before").
The trip should have over 9000 km of touring and over six weeks of relaxing.
Hopefully you will hear about campfires, camp ovens, lakes, rivers, wild-life, smoothies, beaches, sunsets, sunrises - and maybe a good wine with friends................maybe some damper and scones............
We plan to enjoy the journey. I hope you do so as well.
